✨ Wind Has Arrived ✨
The beloved Salt River stallion with the old injury is in his forever home 💙 Thank you donors and supporters! Thank you volunteers, and thank you Simone for the update.
And no—we are not euthanizing him. If we made decisions like that so hastily, none of our rescues would be alive and well today, since every one of them was once in a dire situation. (and in many cases the vet said “euthanize.” ) No vet has said that in Wind’s case, so there is hope, and we will also take input, in case there has ever been a comparable case like this before anywhere. We wonder if a brace will be best, or a simple soft boot, or perhaps even surgery, we are not excluding any option at this point. But first he will get some time to rest and get acclimated before he graduates to bigger goals and larger arenas.
But of course, we also know when a horse truly needs a peaceful ending, and we’ve made that choice numerous times before also. But with Wind, we will exhaust every possibility first—and right now, even with all the changes, he could not seem happier.
Here’s what we will give him to thrive:
- Good groceries
- Good pain meds
- Good rest
- …and then we’ll continue with more medical examinations.
Wind will have friends.
He will have spaces to explore.
He will have love.
And he will be more comfortable than he’s been in over 10 years.
(Pretty fly mask, right? 😍)
