Ten years ago, a brave Salt River stallion named Wind broke his front leg. Against all odds, he not only survived—he thrived. Wind healed, adapted, raised a family, and defended his band with strength and dignity.

But time has caught up with him. Over the past year, Wind’s old injury has grown more crooked, unstable and painful. The difficult decision is now between euthanasia or rescue.

Because we are still under contract right now and because so many people care deeply about Wind, we are choosing rescue. 💙 We believe he deserves a pain-free retirement, surrounded in great care, after all the years he has given to his herd, and to all of us who cherish the Salt River wild horses.

With proper medication, hoof care, and a safe semi wild environment in Prescott, we believe Wind can live out his life in peace and comfort. But ofcourse that comes with costs:

First we’ll need sedation, transport, medical care, more paneling, and afterwords a lifetime of feed as well as painmeds and maybe some special soft shoes, which have helped Diamond so much.

🌿 For now, our goal is just $3,000—enough to cover Wind’s rescue, transport, some panels, dewormer xrays, etc. If we need more for special shoes and meds, we will ask later.
