This is a picture of a brave Sand Wash basin stallion attempting to take this very young foal back to its mother who is in the trapsite, stampeded there by the Cattoor helicopter, hired by our federal government.

This beautiful stallion, Merlin, paid for this last heroic deed with his freedom. If this does not break your heart, you just may not have one. (Latest update, he jumped the panels and took his own freedom back)

We are just sick over the terrible way the Bureau of Land Management is treating these treasures of our public lands and how they are treating the people who love these horses not much better. Shame should befall this entire unsustainable cruel wild horse and burro program, (that your tax dollars pay for.)

There are better ways to manage wild horses. Humane ways, that do not cost the taxpayer any money at all. We used to have 100 foals each year and now we have only 2. We are proving that a wild horse population can be controlled through birthcontrol versus these injust cruel roundups. We are proving it, not just for the Salt River wild horses, but for all wild horses everywhere.

Update to this post, according to an update from SWAT, stallion Merlin jumped the panels and took his own freedom back. You cannot help but cheer for this stallion and his sheer determination and bravery.
