Unfortunately, SRWHMG and AZDA found Tex, a Legend on the Salt River, deceased in the Tonto National Forest around Coon Bluff. We found Tex had died from natural causes due to his old age of at least 24. Tex left 11 living offspring on the river.

We manage the Salt River herd humanely, (in cooperation with the AZDA and TNF), so they can stay wild and free for all of the public to see. We will miss Tex and we are sad he is gone, but we know that he lived the the most beautiful life a horse could ever wish for. Wild and free from beginning to end, and forever more. Run forever free, Tex.
