Wednesday🐴 Rescues Shenanigans
The 💥100+ degree temperatures have arrived, which means it’s officially 💦sprinkler season for the rescues!
A few years ago, some of our volunteers thought it would be fun to see what the horses would think of a ⛲️splash pad. Excited to try something new, they set everything up and eagerly waited to see the rescues’ reactions.
At first, the horses were skeptical. They stood back, watching as the volunteers splashed around and demonstrated that this strange new object wasn’t scary. Felicity was the first to bravely step onto the splash pad, and before long, the others slowly followed suit—everyone except Peanut.
Peanut spent some time prancing around, appearing completely uninterested. Eventually, curiosity got the better of him, and he wandered over to investigate. After taking a quick 💧drink, he decided the splash pad was much more interesting as a chew toy. Within moments, he had bitten a hole right through it, bringing the experiment to an abrupt end.
Fast forward to the beginning of this week, our volunteer thought, “What the heck—let’s give it another try!” and purchased a smaller splash pad as a test.
The results?
It lasted about 10 minutes.
And I bet you can’t guess who took a bite out of it and put a hole in it❓
That’s right—🥜Peanut.
While the splash pad experiment may officially be a failure, the horses had fun investigating something new, enjoyed a little extra enrichment, and gave all of us a good laugh. Some things never change, and apparently Peanut’s dedication to quality-control testing is one of them!
