🌧️A Stormy Welcome to Our First 2025 Foal! 🌧️
We are overjoyed to introduce the newest member of the Salt River Wild Horse Herd! 💕 Born to lead stallion Susquehanna (Suske for short) and first-time mom Americana, who is already proving to be an incredible mother.
If you remember, Americana is the brave mare who once had a lasso tightly around her neck,— thanks to the quick action of SRWHMG, it was safely removed.
After this ordeal we left her “open”, meaning we did not dart her with PZP. To see her now, healthy and raising her first foal, is nothing short of a miracle.
We are so happy to report it is a girl! Because they are the future of the herd! This strong little filly came into the world a few days before a powerful Arizona rainstorm. We monitored her closely and she weathered it like a champ — However, while we’re grateful for the rain, the storm flooded parts of our property and we unfortunately lost well over 100 bales of our hay supply, as well as parts of our driveway we have needed to fix in order to get our hay-trucks in and out.
So, we’re asking for your help, while at the same time asking for your vote!
🎉 A Fundraising Name Vote! 🎉
Naming goals: To stay in keeping with mom and dad’s names is our custom, so that it’s easy to remember her bloodlines years later, just by her name. We ofcourse already have a lot of names taken by other Salt River horses, which disqualified some great suggestions, but here are the 6 suggestions you can vote on!
- Rainna ☔👑 (RAY-na) – for storm survivor, queenly, resilient and ending in A like both of her parents.
- Merah ❤️(MARE-ah)- means red in some languages for her Red dun coat, vibrant, lively and a good combo of both names.
- Brooke 🌊 (BROO-k)– Flowing stream, free-spirited, and in keeping with dad’s name, Susquehanna, which means River.
- Amerah 👑 (ah-MEH-rah) Meaning “princess,” “leader,” “commander,” and “chief,” beginning of Americana name.
- Alana 🌿 (ah-lawn-ah)- Beautiful and precious, which she certainly is and match with moms name.
- Siska 🌾 (SIS-kah) – Inspired by Suske ( Susquehanna), strong, wild-horse-ready.
For every bale of hay (17.00) you buy , you’ll receive one vote toward your favorite name!
Just comment your chosen name from the 6 names in post and how many bales you purchased to cast your vote!
- 💬 Example: “I purchased 3 bales – my vote is for …..”
Then your vote will count 3 times, and you’ll feed 1 band of horses for three days.
