Bearing heartbreaking news, again…

We are devastated and feel so heavy-hearted to be the bearers of bad news yet again. Rainna, the latest Salt River foal, is missing from her band! It’s so hard to even type this!

Since her birth, we have seen her every single day — at the SRWHMG Feed Station or down by the river with her family; they went back and forth a lot lately, and many photographers have helped by calling their sightings in, when we could not find them in the Northern Mountain Quadrant (NMQ).

Three days ago her band returned from the riverside, with Rainna doing just fine, but we felt relief too soon, because the next day, 2 days ago, they returned from the riverside, but this time without her.

We have been searching everywhere and we did not want to alarm anyone unnesesarily, but the truth is, we fear the worst, because her band would never have left her.

This family was so vigilent in protecting her and so were we, – and yet, it appears to us, that the horses are no match for the mountain lions in the area. (We have seen so many different individuals on our gamecams lately.) We are just at a loss.

Please keep Rainna and her band in your thoughts and prayers tonight. We also still have another expecting mare for this year, so please keep them in your prayers also. If anyone wants to help search, or finds anything, please call our hotline.

Picture by Christine B, we’re all heartbroken again.

We are so sorry for all of our volunteers and photographers who knew her well.
