Dear Alpine community of donors and horse rescuers!

Dear Alpine community of donors and horse rescuers! We are busy ID-ing the mares and foals in the RaillazyH auction right now. This is one we recognized immediately; Conchita from Concho’s band. Her pic in the wild is on the left, her pic at the auction on the right. It looks like she already has some scarring on her face, but it is definitely her. FYI none of these horses were skinny in the wild, but as you can see, they come out of Jackie’s possession in very poor condition.
Concho’s band was shot at, Concho dissipated and was never seen again, and Conchita wondered around and likely found a new stallion. (we are not sure who she ended up with). She escaped the brutal shooters with her life, and now her -and her foal’s- lives are at risk again.

These horses have been through so much, and could not be more deserving of some happy endings. So lets do this.

After our announcement, we have a few rescues stepping up and some private homes interested. These rescues will need help with costs and have fundraisers, but because we want to be really fair, we will post all of their fundraisers at the same time.

This way each rescue is supported equally and we can hopefully get these moms and babies into good homes! There is hope! But it will take everyone pitching in, so stay tuned please.

As an important change, and thanks to all of you helping us make Forest Supervisor Rob Lever aware, Jackie Hughes is no longer going to be determining who gets to bid and who doesn’t, based on who she likes and who she doesn’t like. So well see, maybe horse advocates will not be discriminated anymore?

It appears that the bidder questionnaire is completely eliminated now and anyone can bid. So for everyone bidding, please know that if u place a bid, you cannot back out, and horses need to be picked up from Holbrook on Wed/Thursday. We are NOT the contractor and we do NOT make the arrangements.

Now on to ID the rest of the mares from the thousands of pictures we have from when they were so happy in the most beautiful abundant forest in America.
