Friday Fun Herd Fact

This little tyke we named “Light Rain”, because that’s what was falling on the day of his birth. His new little body was shivering and his legs were shaking.

But apparently, it made him tough, because he is the culprit who stole all of Serta’s band and kicked 3 stallions butts! One knee and Surfer Dude were defeated and are out. Serta himself is barely able to keep following his band, but he’s hanging in, regardless of Light Rain’s skills.

These are the ways of the wild, the young studs take over for the old, who have had their DNA deposited sufficiently over many years.

Light Rain was born in August of 2015, out of Brighteyes and Iroquois, right when all the outrage over the Salt River Horse removals was going on. Luckily, because of our efforts, he got to grow up to become new lead stallion material!

Its a new generation of lead stallions and there is a new generation of Arizonans to enjoy them! We want to thank all of our new followers, and hope that our herd stories are enjoyed and shared, so that the Salt River wild horses can be humanely managed in the wild, into the future.
