How to Convert your LOVE for the Salt River wild horses into real HAY for them!

Why? We need to extend our feed program for 2 more months. Normally, at this time of year, the forest has already greened up, and that is when we end our feed program. But with the desert still this bare, we cannot stop giving the horses their highly needed protein! Unfortunately, with the lowering of the river, the eelgrass has also died, and it will take until August for eelgrass to grow abundant again. Even while we are hopeful with finally some rain falling today, it will be one or two more months before forage is stabilized.

With the recent picture of Venus and Iris by Gail Helm, you can tell how highly needed the Alfalfa still is. Nursing mothers have the highest need of calories and we want Iris to grow big and strong, especially because she is our only 2024 filly now!

If everyone helps just a little, no one will be out a lot! We need 15,000 to keep going until the forest provides again. That is 25 bales per day at 20 dollars per bale! If everyone bought just one bale, then we would prove again that the public will provide for these horses!

Because as you know, we do not receive any government grants. These wild horses are managed for the public and by the public!

We are very proud of that, but it means the Salt River wild horses rely entirely on you, our supporters. If everyone really contributed right now, with a few clicks we would get there!

The power of accumulation is amazing and has always gotten us through!!

So please please help us share if you care!

Facts about our feed program:

  • One semiload of weedfree Alfalfa lasts about 2.5 weeks and we feed almost 300 Salt River wild horses with that.
  • It takes 12 volunteers and 3 trucks every day to supply 4 different feed stations.
  • 25 bales at (approx) 20 dollars per day is 500 per day, or 15,000 per month!

Thank you so much, for helping to provide for the Salt River wild horses!
