🚨 URGENT: HELP STOP THE ILLEGAL RELABELING AND REMOVAL OF THE HEBER WILD HORSES. 1,500 of them will be sent to slaughter and it has already begun—under a legal loophole.

The Forest Service is flipping a legal switch to erase wild horse protections overnight—reclassifying approx. 1,500 Heber wild horses as “stray livestock” to strip them of their protections under the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971. The removal is already happening right now—even before the impound notice date—and from our trusted information, it appears these horses are being directly shipped to slaughter.

⚠️ THIS IS THE MOST BLATANT DISREGARD FOR FEDERAL LAW WE HAVE EVER SEEN—and the Forest Service attorney has already told us they will not stop.

📄 Just 30 days ago, these horses were still recognized as protected under federal law according to Forest Service documents and decision records (we will post those docs in the comments). These wild horses didn’t change—only the label did. And that label determines whether they go to adoption facilities—or to slaughter.

🐎 WHY THIS MATTERS

If this stands, it sets a dangerous national precedent—allowing the same tactic to be used against all wild horses and burros across the country on Forest Service land. While letters help raise awareness, we have been told directly: they will not stop.

We are filing an Emergency Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) NOW to stop this and buy time for a full legal case.

Our three experienced attorneys (two local, one national) are ready—but they do not work for free. We need immediate funding to retain them for this case.
