Watch closely. The social dynamics are amazing. They communicate with each other so much more than we know. We received questions on our last behavior video, about who’s really the boss, the lead stallion or the lead mare?

The answer is they each have different jobs and they work amazingly together.

The stallions are basically in charge of security, and the lead mare is in charge of the rest of the mares and decisions, like where they are headed to.

The lieutenant stallions are the first line of defense, while the lead stallion stays close to the band, and will run away with the band if there is reason. Lieutenant stallions do not have very many rights within the band, but they work very hard defending the family. We love the lieutenants!
