We did something really awesome today….
We are so happy to let you know that we were able to save Neiman and that we could give him his wild life back!!
It took Neiman 3 months exactly to heal from his terrible ordeal with the cattleguard. He had 20 sutures to prevent his cannonbone from being exposed and dying. He could not have survived this in the wild.
He was cared for 24/7 and ate his antibiotics like a good boy. He was sedated 4 times in the 3 months it took him to heal. First to remove the bandages, next to remove the sutures, and next to remove proud flesh, and today for his last checkup and release. We managed to keep Neiman wild by keeping him in a back arena without interacting and never taming him.
Today was the long awaited day, so please excuse the happy emotions and chatter in the video! Our team works hard for the horses and also has fun while doing it.
We want to thank the Forest Service sincerely for allowing his release as an exception, because his injury was public safety related. (cattleguard).
We want to thank the AZDA for all of the help during his rescue and healing process. We want to thank our truly amazing careteam volunteers for caring for him so expertly nomatter what the temperatures, including our own volunteer veteranarian Dr. Jen.
Last but not least we want to thank AZEquine Dr Howard for his expert veterinary care!
Neiman cost us a total of $3800 in veteranary care and feed. It was worth every penny and we hope you think so too.
If you see Neiman on the river, please give him his space and whisper him good luck!
Good luck Neiman!
