What a wild day!

June 9th

What a wild day! We are so proud of our SRWHMG certified darter Destini Rhone, and AZDA officer Makenzie Gleave, who saved the day when this steer was going wild on Ironwood road in Apache Junction this morning! (No one had time to take a better picture) The steer had already damaged two police cars and rammed through a fence.
Destini and Makenzie and the state vet got behind a wall and onto a ladder to take aim at him. Destini got him with two darts full of sedation. He then went peacefully down, so that he could be loaded in a trailer on his way back to the owner! The dart saved the steers life because a sharpshooter was ready to kill him if he continued his rampage. All’s well ends well. Apparently our darting skills come in handy for more than birth control!
Thank you City of Apache Junction police and cowboys and everyone involved!
To support our all volunteer group today, you can go have lunch or dinner at the Culver’s on 1263 S Crimson in Mesa, either today or tomorrow or this weekend. Just mention the Salt River wild horse Fundraiser and Culver’s will donate 20% of the cost of your meal! Now through the close of business Sunday June 12, 2022.Thank you for your support!
