Heartbreaking. Wild horses have incredible bonds and deep feelings for eachother, even when they are not family. Under this tarp is a bachelor stallion who was hit by a car last week at a horse crossing. It broke our hearts, and it also broke his best friends heart. This is a timelapse video of his buddy smelling and pawing and trying to process what happened to him. (Not graphic) He stayed there for an hour trying to get him up. Farewell Rue. 😢

For lack of an underpass, we are currently asking MCDOT for no parking signs at the V openings at the horse crossings, as we believe this hit was caused by confusion, because cars were blocking their entrance. It would only take 50 ft of clearance at the openings to make it safer. Working hard to improve safety, SRWHMG.
