Wind is safe… and in the best hands

And yes… it was VERY windy while we were working on Wind 😅🌬️

While he was sedated, an entire team came together for him — our vet, farrier, and dedicated volunteers — all working with care, speed, and precision.Every moment was about his comfort, his healing, and his future. Even something as simple as removing his winter coat—he got a real spa day!

This is what it takes to give a rescued Salt River stallion a second chance.

👀 Stay tuned to see EVERYTHING we were able to do medically for Wind while he was asleep — you won’t believe the xrays.

Thank you for sharing! #srwhmg

Part 2: Wind’s health care day–his teeth🐎🦷

Even under full sedation… Wind still had opinions 🤭 — and yes, he managed to bite the vet (don’t worry, everyone is okay!)

For those who don’t know his story — Wind is one of our Salt River Rescues. He broke his leg in the wild back in 2014, bit it healed abd he lived a whole decade in the wild after that. But it healed crooked. As he got older, life in the wild became harder and harder for him… and that’s why we stepped in 💔➡️💙

This wasn’t just about his teeth — this was part of a full health care day while he was sedated, making sure we could help him in every possible way.

In this video, you’ll see his dental exam and floating — filing down sharp points so he can chew comfortably again.

Stay tuned… because there’s still more we did for Wind while he was asleep 🐎 #srwhmg

Part 3: A closer look at Wind 🩺

This is where things get even more important…

While Wind was safely sedated, we were able to take X-rays — giving us a clear look inside his leg, the one he broke back in 2014 that healed crooked. What we saw helps us understand exactly what he’s been carrying all these years… and how we can support him better going forward.

At the same time, our farrier got to work — carefully trimming and balancing his hooves to take pressure off that old injury and help him move more comfortably. Every adjustment matters when a horse has been compensating for so long 🐎✨

This is the kind of detailed, hands-on care Wind could never have received in the wild… and it’s all about giving him the comfort and dignity he deserves now.

Stay #srwhmgtuned… we’re not done yet 👀
