It’s hard to believe that it is 10 years ago when we found this tiny, helpless wet foal who had been left behind by his band. He was so small, so vulnerable… and what we had in that moment was a desperate feeling to save his life, we had to succeed in saving his life.

What followed were long days and sleepless nights — trying to keep him alive, desperately searching for volunteers willing to feed him around the clock. ⏰ It took a village of people who cared, and somehow, together, we got him through those fragile first days. Later on we searched and bought him his very own lactating mom, April. She was $2000 we did not have at the time, but we got her anyway and we started gaining our first real supporters.

Rosco’s birthday is special for so many reasons. ✨

He wasn’t just our first Salt River rescue… he helped shape the SRWHMG family we are today. The people who stepped up for him, the lessons we learned, the love that grew around this little foal — it all started with Rosco.

But the most beautiful part of Rosco’s story is simply Rosco himself. ❤️

He enjoys his life so much. Running, playing, being with his best friend Pacman, and just being a horse. He was never put on this earth to perform for people or to please anyone.

We saved him for a much simpler reason:

So that we could watch him live the happy, peaceful horse life he deserves.

And seeing him thrive after everything… makes every moment worth it.
