Happy horses, happy public, happy government.

Keeping them wild and free.
Wild horse populations grow each year by an average of 15%. That is because they are amazing survivors. However, this causes the government to round up wild horses by the thousands every year, which is not humane, and very costly, because then they have to keep them and feed them for the rest of their lives. This makes no one happy; not the government, not the public and certainly not the horses.
Here in Arizona, we do things differently.
We prevent the herd growth in a very humane way, by darting the mares with birth control. You will see lots of bands of horses like this, all adults, no foals. That is how we are keeping them wild and free. Now we have a happy public, because they get to enjoy the wild horses, a happy government because they don’t have to spend money, and happy wild horses, because they get to continue to be wild and free.
