Labor Day Weekend is Here!

Heading to the Lower Salt River this weekend? We hope you’re lucky enough to catch a glimpse of our beautiful Salt River wild horses!

There is just something special about seeing them wild and free in their homewalking along the river, grazing with their families or making their way through the water.

As you enjoy the river and the horses this holiday weekend, please remember: the best way to love our wild horses is to give them space.

• Stay at least 50 feet away. Please never approach, touch or feed the horses.
Slow down and watch carefully for horses around the recreation areas.
• Kayaking or paddleboarding? Keep an eye out for horses crossing the river. Please give them plenty of room and let them cross without interference.

Remember, these horses are wild animals. Giving them plenty of room allows them to move, graze, rest, cross the river and interact with their family units.

Take only pictures, leave only footprints, pack out your trash, and give our wild horses the space they deserve. ❤️
