This is one of our retired stallions, the awesome Champ!
Did you know we have 14 retired lead stallions in our herd? This is one of them, the awesome Champ. We are glad he is still around.
We find that these retirees usually seem pretty happy in their old age. They’ve given up chasing after the ladies and seem very content that way. Kind of like old grandpa’s happy to run into their grandkids every once in a while, but also content to go off on their own again. They’ve done a commendable job all their lives taking care of their mares and babies and passing on their wisdoms and survival skills. Good job old buddie.
In all wild horse herds there are retired stallions around, but they may not be recognized as such without long term documentation. We think it is sad that the government usually doesn’t just let them live out their last years in peace, since they no longer reproduce, they might as well. They deserve it.
Nice to see you Champ. Have a safe and happy weekend everyone.
