Too little time in a day, but here’s what’s going on in our neck of the woods.

This is Amarillo and old Burnie. To our horror they also became stuck behind the metal fence that was fixed last week! (It had been down since the big flood, so horses made a habit of crossing it). We placed lots of gamecams to monitor the situation and they were on it! Because it has been 7 days now since the fence was fixed by the FS, it’s an emergency. It is imperative to get these horses some water. But it’s not easy to 1. Find the horses first, (we sent out lots of hikers) and 2. guide them to a water trough (by walking them) and 3. get water in the trough (by hauling 5 gallon jugs) and 4. Get them to drink from it! (That takes patience)
But, mission accomplished!! After a good drink they should be fine for a while.
Big shout out to our new Ag liaison Ken, and our hikers who dont quit. Because horse lives matter too!
But now, how to get them back to the river?! That’s going to be another day, another mission and another episode of “As the River Flows”! Please stay tuned and thanks for your support for our important work.
Horse lives matter too!
