We’re celebrating not one, but TWO very special May rescue birthdays!
✅ F️oal separations from 2018, rescued and celebrating Birthdays! We’re celebrating not one, but TWO very special May rescue birthdays! 🎉🐴
Agave – born May 4, 2018
Rescued at just 3 weeks old, Agave was incredibly weak and fighting for her life. She suffered from a severe sand impaction and had been relentlessly harassed by bachelor stallions, with no sign of her mother anywhere. Thanks to SRWHMG rescue efforts, she got a second chance—and she’s been thriving ever since.
Peanut – born May 8, 2019
Little Peanut was found wandering alone in the forest after becoming separated from his band. Foals can only survive a few hours without their mother’s milk, so time was critical. Our team stayed with him for 5 hours in the forest, feeding milk replacer and searching for his family, but they were never found, abd to this day we dont know who his family is. Thankfully, we were able to bring him to safety and raise him with our amazing caretaker team.
Their stories show that foal separations have always happened, they happen in every herd, but not every herd is this closely monitored. Our priority is to always reunite the foals, but when that doesn’t work, we rescue them. So it was very lucky for our new (still unnamed) foal that we found his band and his mom in time to be able to reunite him! Yeay!
Over the years, Peanut and Agave have formed an incredible bond—they even share a stall at feeding time! 💛
Please join us in wishing Agave and Peanut a very Happy Birthday! And don’t forget to check out our SRWHMG-Wild Rescues page for more updates on their journey.
