What does the word “wild” mean, is it synonymous with “just let them suffer”?
Do the critics have the same to say of some other local rescues like Southwest Wildlife who rescue any and all wildlife, or Liberty Wildlife who rescue birds? Does the rescue of one, make the rest of them any less wild?
It does not. As a matter of fact rescuing an animal from a population has the same effect on the herd as if it would have died. The animals dna then does not contribute to the gene pool anymore.
Plenty of wild horses also still die naturally, of old age. We do not rescue old horses if it is their time, one day we see them and then they just disappear. So no one has to feel sorry for the scavengers. We also only rescue, if there is absolutely no way that the animal will survive, and only with express permission of the AZDA, under whom we have a contract to humanely manage the Salt River wild horses.
We hope that everyone can have a little kindness in their heart. When you see an animal suffering, or a person,..do something.
The accumulation of small kindnesses is what makes the world a better place.
This is Gem. She was septic and suffered from a bone infection. She was left by her band at 3 weeks old when she could no longer get up. Her recovery took 3 months, $8,000 and thousands of man hours. She is now a 3 year old filly living happily ever after with her best buddy Mori and the rest of their new band. They get to run free together as a family and come in 3 times a day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Was she worth it? You tell us.
Thank you for your support.
